I am dr. Aya Biran Nirko.
I’m a doctor, a biologist and I also have a master’s degree in clinical psychological approaches for treating behavioral and substance use disorders.

I got to Italy from Israel about 20 years ago to study medicine at the University of Pavia (a small city southern to Milan), and here I met my husband Or and we had our two wonderful girls.
I have been so many other things in my life. from Multidisciplinary creator, group leader in treks all over Israel, kids’ animator in birthday parties. Awful cook and housewife, but excellent with ship model construction. Passionate reader of science fiction and fantasy, as well as historical novels.

I’m an artist in my bones and soul, who always looks for a way to pour my creativity into fields which seem completely unrelated. I was a university lecturer for Scientific Writing in English for Italian Phd students and researchers. I also was a high school teacher of biology and chimistry.

I am a voice that feels the internal need to be heard. To be expressed in various forms and shapes.

My life, in general and as a Correctional and addiction, took a dramatic turn on May 23rd, 2021. On that day, my beloved brother Amit, his wonderful wife and children were having a short vacation. They took the kids to a trip in the mountain area of Stresa, and as part of their trip, they took the kids to a ride on the cable car running from the shores of the lake up to the peak of the mountain of Mottarone..
Their cable car never reached it’s destination. At a certain point along the ride, something happend, a malfunctioning of some kind, and the car with its 15 pessengers on board crashed down into the forest below. Amit (30 years of age), Tal (26) and Tomi, who was only 2 years old, died that day, leaving behaing, alive and in life treating condintion their older son.
My reality, the one of my family, and of course of my nephew who survived the accident, changed in an imaginable way on that day. A type of change that rattles all your life, from the roots and up.
A KIND OF A CHANGE THAT CHANGES ALL YOUR PERSPECTIVE ON LIFE.
So, beside the need to take care for my family, and the difficult and long path we have been doing since that day, with alll its chalanges and difficulties, with moments of joy alongside moments of deep pain, I have decided to start my own new path. One that will permit me to take care of the family physically, beeing available for the kids and husband, for my parents and brothers, but will also give me a way to grow, to come back to life.
FROM THE ASHES I WILL RISE A NEW DAWN FOR AYA.
